Our Story

The WHY

Sometime in the last forty years, American fashion made a quiet decision.

The brands built on the American lifestyle — the prep aesthetic, the coastal optimism, the collegiate spirit — decided the American life was worth selling but not worth making here anymore. One by one they moved production offshore. The marketing stayed the same. The imagery stayed the same. The flags and the shorelines and the good life — all of it stayed. The manufacturing didn't.

Most people never noticed. The tags got smaller. The conversation never happened. We noticed.

Berkswear Clothing Company was founded on a simple conviction — the American life should be made in America. Not as a tagline. Not as a marketing strategy. As a commitment built into the foundation of everything we make and every decision we take.

The Founder

John Tonsil Jr. grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. He spent years inside the American apparel industry — long enough to understand exactly how it works, and long enough to know it needed to change.

After a successful career as an executive, he launched Berkswear Clothing Company because he felt is was needed.

Married to his beautiful wife Danielle, they have three children. Cameron, Cooper and Charli (yes, Charli is a girl lol).

Together they enjoy sports, spending time together, traveling and lacrosse.

The Brands

Cameron Cooper is premium American menswear for the man who lives the prep lifestyle with intention. Polos. Tees. The classics — designed in America, crafted in America, built to last.

The Cameron Cooper customer knows what he values. He's worn the other brands. He's read the tags. He's ready for something that means what it says.

Cameron Cooper launched July 4, 2026.

Cam & Coop is boyswear for the next generation.

The name comes from John's two boys. The brand exists because the values worth wearing are worth passing down.

Cam & Coop launches alongside Cameron Cooper. Because some things shouldn't wait.

The Goals

Berkswear launches as Crafted in USA — American design, American cut and sew, American materials at every step we can currently can. The goal is full Made in USA as the company grows. That transition will happen publicly, on the record, and without fine print.

The goal beyond the product is bigger. Berkswear exists to challenge the American fashion industry to be honest about where its clothes come from — and to prove that a brand built on genuine domestic manufacturing can compete, scale, and win.

Others have built billion dollar brands selling the American lifestyle. Their clothes are made in Asia.

That gap is the entire opportunity.

The Commitment

No outside investors. No shareholders to satisfy. No pressure to cut corners to hit a quarterly number.

Just a founder, two brands, and a genuine belief that the American apparel industry can do better — and that someone has to go first.

We went first.

Good days. Better tomorrows.
